Impressed by the cosmic compositions and contemplations of medieval polymath Hildegard von Bingen, Electrical Fields gives an immersive multimedia live performance expertise, the place otherworldly music is framed by reside video, lighting projections that reply to the artists, and digital results.
Hildegard had visions all through her life that led to writings on celestial programs and theories of infinite connection. Channeling that spirit, LA Philharmonic goals to succeed in via centuries and collapse time, connecting the music Hildegard wrote within the twelfth century to Baroque-era compositions of Barbara Strozzi and Francesca Caccini — all reimagined via the fashionable eyes and ears of David Chalmin and Bryce Dessner. The definition-defying venture is designed and directed by Netia Jones and Lightmap. Creating the sonic world for the night are soprano Barbara Hannigan, pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque, and Chalmin on reside electronics.
